WELCOME TO THE SHOW.i've seen a few threads here in the plotting board where members are trying to get together to start the wolf pack and claim that shell. i like their ideas and admire their enthusiasm, but i'd like to give it a try. whomever gets the threads up first will get the pack, simple as that. now, let's get down to business...
THE RAVEN'S POiNT PACK.why are we named the Raven's Point pack?
wolf packs rarely take the name of their leader, as the leader will eventually be dethroned and a new one will take his or her place, meaning that the pack's name would change multiple times in a relatively short period. instead, packs prefer to name themselves after the geographical region in which they inhabit, or, if they no longer are in the same place, where the pack was founded. this pack will have their main territory as Raven's Point, thus their name.
why choose Raven's Point?wolves are secretive by nature, and this pack is no exception. the thick pine forest on the mountain provides plenty of cover from prying eyes, as well as plenty of food from the abundant prey animals.
who leads us?Enzane, a female gray wolf, is the alpha of the pack. she has a natural instinct and craving for structure and order, as well as a very dominant personality, making her a prime candidate for leadership.
what are our traditions and rituals?aside from the normal rituals of a real wolf pack, such as the alpha eats first, ranks are ever-changing, etc. the rituals and traditions of the Raven's Point pack will be decided by its members. perhaps a member thinks that the pack should gather every full moon for a pack hunt. then it will be so. Enzane is always open to ideas on how to make the pack more tight-knit (and i am always looking for ways to get the characters roleplaying together to create an actual IC bond), so feel free to throw your ideas out there.
HiERARCHY.the Raven's Point pack uses a different sort of hierarchy system, one that is more true to the actual wolf, called the Ladder System. within this system there are only a few 'set' ranks, and the rest is decided in character by the pack members. the higher up the ladder you are, the more respect you garner from the rest of the pack. a pack member can climb the ladder by challenging and defeating another pack member of the same rank or one above themselves. the challenge isn't an actual fight, but instead a test of dominance. there will be no bloodshed, and the wolf with the most dominant personality will win. the losing wolf is demoted one rank on the ladder.
the omega rank of the pack is not a permanent rank. a wolf who has lost dominance challenges to be demoted past the unranked, will earn the title of omega. this means that they have little to no respect within the pack, and will often be picked on. however, an omega will only remain an omega as long as they wish. to rise out of it, they simply need to challenge an unranked wolf and win.ALPHA. PACK RULES.the pack rules are very simple, and follow that which is seen in real wolf packs. punishment is typically a demoting of a wolf to omega, but can be as bad as expelling a wolf from the pack and banning them return.
i. The needs of the pack come before your own.
ii. Respect any wolf who is above you in rank.
iii. Pay attention to body language, it might just save your hide.
iv. You may challenge a wolf for their rank at any time.
v. You may only challenge within one rank of your own.
vi. You may choose a mate as you will, and you may request the alpha perform a ceremony in front of the pack declaring you as a couple.
vii. Mating outside the pack is considered treason, and grounds for being expelled from the pack.
viii. If you wish to have pups, you must ask the alpha's permission. The alpha will rarely have reason enough to refuse.
ix. Don't bring trouble home to us. If you get yourself into it, you get yourself out of it.
x. You must participate in at least one pack hunt or meeting per IC season to be considered an active pack member. If you fail to do so you will be expelled.
CREATiNG THE PACK.in order to start a pack here on OTS, as the rules state, the alpha must gather three followers in character. we will accomplish this by having four threads; three of which will be where Enzane gains a follower, and one of which will be the claiming of Raven's Point and the actual founding of the pack. want to become one of the founding wolves of the Raven's Point pack? simply post here with what character you are going to use--and remember it has to be a full wolf--and whether you have an open thread with that character we can use, or if i need to start one (i don't mind either way :3). i'll add you to the list and we'll get going!
