Brushing past the barbed wire fence, Annie entered one of the many wide open pastures that harbored cattle. Annie made sure to keep hidden, but with her sheep dog looks, humans wouldn't be quick to shoot her. Spooking a few cattle and dashing off towards the large wind break that was situated towards the right. As she approached, a few laying down cattle quickly sat up, thinking they were being about to get herded. Annie watched them go and lay in the flattened grass.
It may seem childish, but Annie often hung around these parts. Her reason? She wanted to see her mother. At least catch a glance. Ever sense the day her mother was taken, Annie was eaten by the possibilities, was she herding? Did someone from the city take her? Or was she passed on? Annie didn't know what happened in those places and preferred to never find out.
Sighing and resting her head, Annie glanced around at the grazing bovine. From what she could tell with further inspection was that these were all cows, perhaps a few steers and heifers. No bulls in sight which was good, or else she'd be flattened into the grass. Relaxing, Annie allowed her eyes to shut. Taking in the scents and thinking of what this must have been like for her mother. To work with these enormous, heavy animals day in, day out. Annie thought she could be pretty good at this. She had the instinct, she must have. She was her mother's daughter after all.
Annie snapped her head up when one of the cows began brawling and warning the others of some danger. Annie glanced around, standing up. She was ready to take off with the herd, but first, she needed to make sure there was no real threat.
